We took the boys to the Fort Worth Stock Show on Saturday. Their favorite parts were the construction equipment and the animals. Garrett especially wanted to touch all the animals and got angry when we wouldn't let him touch anything. They were show animals in a competition - what did he expect?! It was a full day and everyone took great naps on the way home : )

I'm so proud of Owen's improvement with writing. He went from scribbling all over the page by holding the end of the marker to holding it correctly and actually tracing each letter. Huge success for him!

20 Weeks!

Our Letter J craft of the week was making Jungle Animals - they told me which animals live in the jungle and we figured out how to make it work. They were so excited to see them come together.

Our little boy at almost 20 weeks. You can see his face like he's looking at you on the right of the ultrasound and his little hand is in the middle of the black area. Hard to believe we're halfway through this pregnancy!

The boys' first dentist appointment was good and bad. Good, because they both did everything that was asked of them with no struggles at all. I wasn't sure how Eli would do since he started crying as soon as he saw the chair, but he pulled through and did GREAT! The bad news is that both Owen and Eli need fillings in their front two teeth - fillings that they'll need Valium and Laughing Gas to treat. I'm not looking forward to those appointments coming up next month, and I'm not looking forward to the trauma they'll probably feel towards ever going back to the dentist again. All I can hope for is that the drugs will cloud their vision enough that they'll forget the whole thing!

Making ice cream with our buddies, Abby and Jake. We went all out for the Ii is for Ice Cream unit, and our final product (cookies n cream) was a huge hit. Who doesn't love a little ice cream before dinner?!

The mess is worth it when they have this much fun making it! Shaving cream, glue and paint mixed together makes a texture very similar to puffy paint, and we used it to make ice cream cones for our Letter Ii week. They loved it!

For being less than 18 months old, Garrett is surprisingly careful when attempting tricks like this one. He's had his fair share of spills and wipeouts, but he's generally pretty aware of his surroundings and his abilities (which makes me extra nervous!)

We have had beautiful weather the past few days - perfect for hiking in parks and playing in the backyard. The boys are all gluttons for being pushed or pulled in the wagons and cars, and Grandpa was more than happy to oblige!

This child is not content to be a baby for another second longer! He wants to be just like his big brothers in every way possible, including sitting at the table with them, using utensils to eat and holding the railing to walk down the stairs (instead of slide down backwards) which just about gives me a heart attack every time I see it. He's still just my baby, after all! Garrett is trying to say more words every day and is really expressive when he knows what he wants - like to go outside, to see the neighbor's dogs out his bedroom window, or to eat! This is going to be a big year of growing up for Garrett - I'm not sure I'm ready for it!

It was a really fast, but really good week. We don't get together nearly often enough, but we make the best of the time we have and love watching the relationship between our kids grow and develop. Thanks for coming to Texas for Christmas, Englerts! We love you : )

It was the perfect day for the Dallas Arboretum - beautiful weather, happy kids and lots to see and do. The place was all decked out with Fairy Tales - Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, The Princess and the Pea... but all the official fairy tales - no Disney characters in sight. There were tons of water features, which four adventurous boys thought was the coolest thing ever, and lots of space to run and play. You can't beat a 70 degree day outside in December!

The Heard Museum of Natural History had an exhibit on animatronic dinosaurs that we thought we be a huge hit with four big dinosaur fans. They ended up either stating that they weren't moving enough, or being afraid when they moved too often. We can't win! : ) Babe's Chicken was our next stop for dinner, then to Main Street in Frisco to see the Christmas lights set to music.

There was definitely a theme to this year's Christmas presents: dinosaurs! Between Asher, Owen and Eli, they got almost all of the Imaginext dinosaurs in the set and played with them all week long. Between the remote control cars, airplanes, Disney cars and superhero shirts, it was abundantly clear that little boys were opening all the presents! Garrett's biggest hit were maracas that change colors and make different sounds when you shake them, Blake's was his Mobigo, Asher's was his Mega T-Rex and Owen and Eli would probably agree that their favorite was the 'big blue braciosaursus!' It was a great Christmas morning, especially because we could all be together.

Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree!

This is the calm before the storm! Elise, Kirk, Blake, Asher and Jonas arrived from the airport mid afternoon on Christmas Eve. Owen and Eli were so excited to see them again and couldn't wait to start playing. We all went to Christmas Eve service at IBC, then came home for dinner and an early bedtime. Christmas morning comes early around here! We arranged the presents under the tree, since that really couldn't be done any earlier than the last minute (with six boys under five ready to tear them open!) and loaded up their stockings. It looked so pretty before the destruction began ; )

Here we go again! 16 weeks have come and gone and things are still going pretty smoothly. I was a little sick in the beginning, but nothing that wasn't manageable, and I can still sleep on my stomach at night, which I'm taking advantage of until it's not possible anymore. That's the worst part of being pregnant to me - having to sleep on my side. I can't believe I'm still wearing my regular jeans at this point - I would have thought for sure that the 3rd time around would have made me pop way sooner! This is a picture of 16 weeks with Owen and Eli, and this is a picture of 16 weeks with Garrett. Big difference!

It's a BOY! Admittedly, Charlie and I both thought this one was surely going to be a girl, but we were surprised yet again with ultrasound results. We were reliving the day that we went in for the 'gender ultrasound' the first time and came out with stunned expressions and the knowledge that we'd be having twins. Not sure news gets more shocking than that! Everything looks great so far with our little man and we get our next view of him during the 20 week appointment with the anatomy ultrasound.

Ha! What do you think of my Nativity dinner! : ) Baby Jesus, Mary and Joseph made of mini hot dogs and crescent rolls, the star made of cheese, the angel made of a peanut butter sandwich, camel and donkey animal crackers, three crowns made of bananas, the stable roof made of pretzel rods and the hay made of spiral mac n cheese. The boys LOVED it!

We took the boys on a live Nativity hayride and they really enjoyed it - especially the cookies at the end! Owen and Eli were pointing out all the characters and retelling the story as we went and Garrett was in search of every animal they had. Like usual, he went around slapping all the animals in the petting zoo squealing the whole time! This Christmas season has been filled with really fun family activities that bring us back to the meaning of Christmas, and I'm thankful for that!

Christmas at Nash Farm was a huge success! We made Christmas ornaments, rode a tractor, played with the farm toys and toy tractors and saw the animals. It was a little cold and rainy, and Garrett didn't like not being able to participate in the ornament making, but it was a fantastic family morning.

Happy Thanksgiving!!

This is the first holiday that I didn't go overboard with photos... and I kinda regret it! Here's one of the kids table (minus Garrett and Judah who were both sleeping), and one of Garrett outside, digging up all the landscaping in the Golz' backyard! Israel did all of the cooking - turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, rolls, asparagus, mac n cheese - and three kinds of desserts! Now that's what I call a Happy Thanksgiving : )

We took the kids to Paradise Pond on Friday for one last outing before Grammy and Pappy's trip came to an end. Owen and Eli were hard to catch a picture of because they were so busy running from one activity to another, but Garrett (as always!) is my little ham. He just loved being with Pappy - building towers, riding the roller coaster and getting pushed on the merry-go-round. These boys sure are going to miss Grammy and Pappy (and so am I!!)

Back to Fort Worth to see the daily cattle drive down Exchange Avenue. We walked around the little shops, saw the cowboys and longhorns, grabbed lunch and headed home for naps. It was winter coat weather today for sure - big difference from only a few days ago when we were playing outside wearing t-shirts instead.

I had a feeling the Duck Pond would be a big hit for all three boys. Garrett is so completely into animals right now that he just pointed and squealed the entire time we were near the ducks. Owen and Eli had a great time tossing all the bread into the water, and we finished it up with some time playing on the playground. Garrett and Pappy are quickly becoming best buds : )

Full day! Church in the morning, home for lunch and quick naps, then to Sprinkes Bakery for gourmet cupcakes, downtown Dallas for some sight seeing and to Babe's Chicken for dinner. Those kids were wiped by the end of the day (and so were we!)

My parents are here for the week!! Day 1 was a long one for them with the time change and the Fort Worth rodeo that night, but it was so much fun! Owen and Eli loved watching the 'angry cows' at 'the radio' : ) Owen folded his hands for the Cowboy Prayer at the beginning of the rodeo and kept them folded for almost the entire show. It's a good thing we got a babysitter for Garrett - by the end of the show Owen and Eli were asking us if they could go to sleep. Long day for everyone!

The boys' current favorite activity is being pulled all around the backyard in the wagon, or racing around in their Step 2 car. They could literally do this all day long. It's pretty cute how they'll hold on to Garrett or he'll lean back on them for support.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!

The boys are all really into dressing up right now, so Halloween came at the perfect time. Eli was a pirate, Owen was a sea monster and Garrett was our little Superman. He really wanted to keep up with his big brothers, and did a pretty good job at it, but kept wanting to go back the way we came instead of moving forward. It was a beautiful night for trick or treating - much different than back home where you have to plan a winter coat into your costume!

Guess what!! Baby #4 is making his/her debut on or before June 7! We heard the heartbeat last week and confirmed that there is only one baby in there. Things look great and the next appointment is in three weeks. Good thing we already have a minivan : )

Pirate Days (similar to a Renaissance Festival) was this weekend in The Colony so we took our chance to dress the boys up and mingle with some 'real live pirates.' There was a pirate ship to tour and pirates who could answer all your piratey questions. They shot off cannons, had treasure hunts, bouncy houses and there were pirates everywhere! It was really fun (but kind of a freak show too! ; )

Garrett was hilarious in the petting zoo. He wanted to touch every animal and wasn't afraid of anything. His favorite was the pot belly pigs, but he wasn't picky!

Flower Mound (a neighboring community) had their annual Firehouse Open House and the boys loved it! Garrett was napping, so Charlie took Owen and Eli, and they got to see huge ladder trucks spraying water, got to tour the fire engine and ambulance and met a real firefighter. The free hats were a nice touch too : )

Owen and Eli have been getting more and more into dress-ups, but now Garrett wants to play along too. He'll drag a pair of monkey pants over and start grunting and gesturing that he wants to wear them. As soon as Eli saw that Garrett was dressed as a monkey, he wanted to get dressed too to give him a 'monkey hug.' I bought several new costumes that we're pulling out slowly... I'm sure you'll see plenty of them in pictures in the future!

Garrett is one determined little guy! He worked so hard balancing the ball on the tee and then as soon as he lifted the bat, the ball would fall off. So he'd start the whole process again, only for the ball to fall off again. But he'd just keep trying and trying. Love that little man!

What a great day to play outside without your pants! Garrett will do anything to keep up with Owen and Eli, which usually means running all over the yard and climbing on things that a 14 month old shouldn't climb on. I just love how much he loves them and wants to be around them all the time.

I went on my first girls' overnight trip this weekend since I had Owen and Eli more than three years ago. It was so much fun! As I was walking into the kitchen to kiss Garrett goodbye, this is how I found him. Yes, that's mac and cheese in his hair. My reaction? "Garrett's gonna need a bath tonight! See ya tomorrow!" : )

What a fun morning at the IBC Car Show! We saw all the fancy cars, one a raffle for a Chik-fil-A gift basket, came home with a lion and a Spiderman and had a great time with friends. This was the first time we've even attempted to get their faces painted and they did GREAT! I'm sure it's because Reese and Riley went first and looked so fantastic afterwards that we could convince them at all. Pretty snazzy!

The Plano Balloon Festival was a much larger event than we had anticipated. We didn't really plan well for all the traffic and crowds, and by the time all the cool stuff started happening, it was pretty much bedtime (and time for us to leave). We ate some fair food and watched as many of the balloons were blown up, and as we walked out to leave we watched all the balloons light up the field. There were probably 25-30 balloons with their fires all lit at the same time - it was really pretty amazing. Reese and Riley and Owen and Eli are becoming pretty inseparable and light up when they see each other. It's pretty cute how much they love Garrett too!
