Part 1: Owen, Eli and Garrett's first day at Faith! These handsome boys are all in the same class with Mrs. Brooks and will go every Thursday this year for Art, Music, Science, Spanish, Chapel, Gym, Lunch and Library. They have lots of friends in their class from last year and were so excited to start the year!

Orientation at Faith was Wednesday and we found out that the boys are all in class together! We showed Garrett around, saw their lockers and met the teachers. First day of Faith is August 27!

Here we go!! First year homeschooling two different grade levels... yikes!

Owen and Eli: Learning Language Arts through Literature (Yellow), Math-U-See Gamma, Sequential Spelling, All About Spelling, Writing with Ease

Joint: Story of the World Vol 2, Apologia Astronomy, The Picture Smart Bible

Weird Animals week at VBS! I was a crew leader so I got to see and experience everything with Owen and Eli, including witnessing Owen's prayer in front of all 600 kids and volunteers for snack on Wednesday. I'm so proud of him!! They boys all had a great time and learned so much about Jesus' love for them. They are already asking when VBS will be next year!

We made it through the first year of homeschooling!! It was awesome at times and challenging at others but I am so proud of these boys and all they have accomplished this year. We're taking a break before we get back in the saddle and ROCK the FIRST GRADE!

Sharkarosa Wildlife Camp was an awesome field trip. The boys learned all about lemurs and kangaroos, zebras (the baby was 5 DAYS old!), camels, bears, monkeys, boa constrictors and so much more. We got to pet a few animals including a baby kangaroo and a snake, had a picnic, road a tram that the animals fed off the sides of and the boys took a tractor barrel ride. What a cool place!

THIS is the beauty of homeschooling ; ) We're doing a Road Trip curriculum this year and learning about all 50 states. This week our state was North Carolina, home of the first Krispy Kreme donut store. Guess where we went to enhance our learning experience? ; ) We watched the whole donut making process, made guesses about what would happen in each phase, retold how to make donuts and, of course, ate them. Doesn't get much better than this!

This week is Zoo Week for school, so what better way to apply what we're learning than a field trip to the zoo! Grammy and Pappy were paired up with Owen and Eli to complete a zoo scavenger hunt, we fed giraffes and lorikeets, rode the monorail and had a picnic. We saw just about everything, including a white alligator and two just-born monkeys. Other than Pappy getting his ear bit by the same lorikeet twice, it was a great day!
