HAPPY THANKSGIVING 2015!!

Our 5th Annual Thanksgiving Day with the Golz' is in the books! We've been getting together since Garrett was only about 16 months old and now we've got seven kids from three to eight years old! These sweet friends are so special to us and we love this Thanksgiving tradition... especially this year when it seemed that all the kids were (finally) self sufficient and could play on their own while we visited, drank wine and ate our bake brie in peace ; ) Friends who are like family is one of the top things we're thankful for!!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!

The day started with a run with Julie, some apple pie making and some down time before heading over the the Golz' house for hanging out and dinner. This is the fourth year in a row that we've celebrated with them and it is every bit as great as celebrating with family. We have so much to be thankful for!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

So much to be thankful for this year and every year. We celebrated with our Texas family, the Golz's, and the Allens. Nine kids five and under and six adults and nothing was broken, spilled or damaged - that's reason enough to be thankful! ; ) We just kept commenting how much easier this year was than last year, and how much easier it will be even next year. These babies are hardly babies anymore! We live a blessed life and are so thankful to slow down enough to appreciate it.

Owen and Eli have been in a Hands-On Science and History of the Pilgrims class all semester and got to participate in a retelling of the story of Thanksgiving during our Thanksgiving Feast. They both wanted to be Indians even though the Pilgrims had way more stage time,  but they seemed to really enjoy it. Garrett needed to be in on the costume action too, as you'd expect from any little brother. Good food and a great start to Thanksgiving week!

Clearly done with the acting portion of the morning ; )

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Matt, Janice, Charlie and I were grossly outnumbered this year, the kid count up two from last year. Abby, Owen, Eli, Jake, Garrett, Dylan and Emily did amazingly well considering all the chaos, and we were actually able to sit down and enjoy dinner! Turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, mac and cheese, carrots, rolls, an autumn salad, pumpkin pie and apple cake - delicious! Our kids have grown up together and play really well together, which always makes spending time more enjoyable. We are so thankful to have such great friends to celebrate with and for all these crazy kiddos!

Our paint strip thankful turkeys! My favorite part of this craft was asking Garrett what he's thankful for and him responding "um, hmm, my mommy and daddy!"

Owen's (God and Jesus... melt my heart)
Eli's (can you tell by the sperm whale and squid feathers?!)
Garrett's (love how he mentions George and his blankie!)

November is going to be a month of Thanksgiving related activities and I'm so excited for it! We have been out of our 'school' routine since Dylan was born and I think this month will help us get back on track. All three boys loved this super easy coffee filter turkey and they all turned out beautiful, no matter how much or little coloring they wanted to do. Happy November everyone!

Happy Thanksgiving!!

This is the first holiday that I didn't go overboard with photos... and I kinda regret it! Here's one of the kids table (minus Garrett and Judah who were both sleeping), and one of Garrett outside, digging up all the landscaping in the Golz' backyard! Israel did all of the cooking - turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, rolls, asparagus, mac n cheese - and three kinds of desserts! Now that's what I call a Happy Thanksgiving : )
