This was favorite Valentine's Day EVER!! I received these two cards - in the mail! - the day before, so I knew they had big things planned for the day. Owen and I went to Natchez Trace and ran a couple miles together, then he me to Braum's for ice cream, and he paid! We sat outside the restaurant and ate ice cream together and just talked about life : )
Then I had almost a full afternoon to myself while Charlie took Eli grocery shopping and they prepped dinner. He came up to my room in his dress clothes and invited me to the Eli Cafe, he escorted me down the stairs, read me the menu, brought a color page and colored pencils to keep me and his brothers busy while they plated the first course, and then he carried the courses in and out of the dining room, being the perfect gentleman the whole time. Caesar salad, spaghetti and meatballs, grilled bread, lots of Italian desserts, Italian symphony music and all my favorite boys. What a special night!!

"Hey Mom! I'm a whole hand now!"
I know! You don't have to rub it in!!
Dear Garrett,
You are FIVE today! It doesn't seem possible that five years have already gone by and that you have turned from the baby of the family to the middle brother, stopped sucking your fingers, started correctly pronouncing countless words you used to not be able to say, graduated from preschool, and are ready to start Kindergarten! You are so sweet and sensitive, you always look out for Dylan and consider him your trusty sidekick, you love sharing with all your brothers, you're dramatic, funny and so smart. I can't wait to have you home with me next year to start school together and I can't wait to see what God has in store for you as you grow and change into a young man. But let's not think about that now! For now, five is enough!
Love,
Mommy

Three cheers for Jill!! Owen and Eli's teeth had been loose for days (if not weeks!) Then in a matter of a few days, Owen got kneed in the tooth twice and Eli bit wrong into a bagel and we had two REALLY loose teeth. I tried pulling them but couldn't really get a good grip. We told them that Jill was an expert and had pulled 8 of her son's teeth so they both gave her a shot and she got them both on the first attempt!! Woohoo for a double-duty tooth fairy night!
They wrote letters to the Tooth Fairy asking for 'small prizes' instead of money. Eli requested that his 'not be girly'. Ha! Markers to the rescue!

Too Hot to Handle 5K
The boys have been looking forward to this race since February when they ran Too Cold to Hold and found out that they would get a magnetic 'sister' medal if they ran this race too. I don't think they understood then just how HOT this race would be! They rocked though, as always, and ended up crossing the line in an exact tie: 32:25 (4th and 5th in their age group). I LOVE that these guys love running with me!

We're on our way to Pittsburgh!! It's a LONG two days of driving, but it's always worth it once we get there. And I've never met four more capable and cooperative young travelers. These boys are CHAMPS!
