Dylan's Christmas program was adorable. He sang his heart out and did all the motions like a pro. He's been singing Away in a Manger ever since : )

Have I mentioned how much I'm enjoying homeschooling this year? We've been learning about Ancient Greece for awhile now and the activity for this chapter is to run your own Popinas - a Greek restaurant! We made "lamb" (pork) kebabs and Greek pasta salad, bought pitas and hummus, lentil soup and grape juice from the store and bought spanikopita and baklava from a Greek restaurant. It was delicious! The boys made menus and served us each component, and they all tried everything!

Our gingerbread train was a big hit. The boys kept squealing every time they put on a new decoration and giggled the whole time. They worked together as a team and shared the pieces really well too, a big improvement from last year! Dylan was content to just watch them decorate, but wanted in on the action when it came time to sample. I love the video of him when I asked him to share : )

The downfall of being so far behind on the blog is forgetting about these little moments in life. Charlie started working with Owen and Eli on riding without training wheels once the weather 'broke' for the summer, and by broke I mean mid-90s. Hard to practice when heat exhaustion is a real possibility! They both do the exact same panic move - taking their feet off the pedals. They'll get it though!

These videos are a little long but SO worth it. They are both from the Mom's Breakfast back in May at their preschool. Enjoy : )

This video is the whole reason why Dylan's birthday party was a Mickey theme. He loves the Hot Dog Dance and will drop everything to bust a move ; )

This little man is on the move! He started off doing great with the walker, then we gave him a little freedom with the stairs and now he's walking! Owen, Eli and Garrett are all in the habit of counting his steps and reporting how many he's taking and he can stand up without holding on to anything and just take off. This little fellow is less and less baby every day!

Is there anything cuter than a baby who learned how to clap? All we have to do is say 'yay' and he starts clapping : )

Two peas in a pod. Dylan loves his brothers!

Dylan's laugh is contagious, and he thinks Owen is hilarious! All this laughter is because Owen is bouncing a beach ball off the wall - it doesn't take much!

Garrett's new favorite song is Take Me Out to the Ballgame. I'm not sure when he learned all the words, but he sings them all all day long! It is also his bedtime song of choice. For some reason his first line always sounds like 'Take me out to the pancake,' but if you try to sing it that way he knows it's wrong. I love how he sings 'root root root for the Pirates' - that's our boy!

From Head to Toe, by Eric Carle, read by Owen, reinacted by Garrett:

I am a penguin and I turn my head. Can you do it? I can do it!
I am a giraffe and I bend my neck. Can you do it? I can do it!
I am a buffalo and I raise my shoulders. Can you do it? I can do it!
I am a monkey and I wave my arms. Can you do it? I can do it!
I am a seal and I clap my hands. Can you do it? I can do it!
I am a gorilla and I thump my chest. Can you do it? I can do it!
I am a cat and I arch my back. Can you do it? I can do it!
I am a crocodile and I wriggle my hips. Can you do it? I can do it!
I am a camel and I bend my knees. Can you do it? I can do it!
I am a donkey and I kick my legs. Can you do it? I can do it!
I am an elephant and I stomp my foot. Can you do it? I can do it!
I am I and I wiggle my toe. Can you do it? I can do it!

January 7, 2013

I forgot to upload this video around Christmas but it's worth rewinding time to post : ) To explain, we got a book from the library called The Twelve Bots of Christmas all about robots and set to the tune of the 12 Days of Christmas.

Here's the subtitles to Eli's song:

7 Sub-Trons Swimming
6 Geese-o-Matics
5 Bot-to-ries
4 Calling Borgs
3 Wrench Hens
2 Turbo Doves
and a Cartridge in a Gear Tree (but they thought it was hilarious to say Pear instead of Gear)

I love that he stops himself at the end and says it's time to eat lunch : )
