So... I guess this phase is starting. Awesome.

Why yes, yes I did climb onto the table all by myself! I can also climb stairs now, much to the surprise of mom and dad!

He's usually such a neat eater... I'm not sure what got into him!

I knew he was being too quiet!

Let the power struggle stage, commence! Parents: 1, Owen: 0! Well, not really, because he still didn't end up eating the food that was on his fork, but he fell asleep in the high chair as the other kids were being put to bed. It's amazing how much will-power can come from such a small person!

I know this is the sort of behavior I should stop and not encourage by video taping, but it's just so cute. I took a longer video that was too big to upload of him rolling over the top of the couch, then running back around to do it three more times. The kid is unstoppable!

The box of Kix was a little too close to the edge of the table apparently. Garrett grabbed it, set it on the floor and then set to work grabbing fistfuls of cereal and packing his cheeks as full as he could. I can't blame him, I love Kix too, but c'mon Garrett... at least chew them up!

There's no coincidence that his shirt says 'Here Comes Trouble!' : )

I went on my first girls' overnight trip this weekend since I had Owen and Eli more than three years ago. It was so much fun! As I was walking into the kitchen to kiss Garrett goodbye, this is how I found him. Yes, that's mac and cheese in his hair. My reaction? "Garrett's gonna need a bath tonight! See ya tomorrow!" : )

Well Crayola, you've had a lot of good ideas over the years... but I don't think I'd list your colored bubbles up there with the others. Granted, it is washable (thank goodness!) but it's not exactly something you can pack in the diaper bag to take to the park when you have to take a bath just to get cleaned up.

And don't ask how Eli got bubbles all over his mouth... sometimes I can only wonder...

Tupperware + Garrett = TROUBLE!

March 26, 2011

Oh good heavens... these boys are mischievous!! They were up in their room for bed, quietly talking to each other, for about 30 minutes when I went up to check on them. I kept the light off, but took Eli by the hand to lead him back to bed and was greeted with a palmful of squish! When I turned on the light, I saw this guilty face! (Pic taken after I took his pj top off because it was covered in Vaseline!) The evidence... the whole container was all over their walls! Once we got the big globs off the wall, we enlisted their help to 'wipe up' the mess. The walls were already destroyed, so we figured they might as well think they were helping to clean up.

We have tried a couple different things to get the grease off the walls, all with no luck. No idea what to try next. We talked to them while we were all cleaning about how bad this is, how it's a big mess, how this is 'mommy's stuff' and that they shouldn't touch it. Now when they walk into their room, they say "Big mess. Not feel bad." YES YOU DO FEEL BAD!!

'I take a hair cut!' Mental note: do not leave the toiletries bag laying around after returning home from a business trip where the boys can get it. The back story: Garrett got a haircut this week and ever since then, Owen and Eli have been pretending to give themselves haircuts too. They were using the plastic saws that are included in their workbench... until they found a razor. Yikes!!

They thought the stickers-all-over-the-body was cute until it came time to pull them off. Those stickers were practically on par with waxing their legs!

Oh no no no... I am NOT ready for babyproofing the stairs! And have you ever seen an almost 8 month old inside the bottom of a table?!

But he's just so darn cute!

What is it about putting a bucket on your head and running around in circles that's so fun?! This is a new game for the boys that they love, much to my dismay! I can't even count how many times they have run into each other, the walls or the doors and have fallen down laughing themselves silly. Being a mom of boys requires a whole new level of trust in God to protect my kids!

November 5, 2010

We took the boys to the park armed with a bag full of old bagels and headed to the pond to feed the ducks. We were having a great time with the 'duts' and the boys were doing a great job tearing off small bits of bread... but then Owen got a little over zealous with his throwing and fell in the pond! Thankfully, the water was only about a foot deep, but he was soaked and kept saying 'oh no, bye-bye duts. all wet. oh no!' We stripped him down to his diaper and headed back to the car to head home. Not the greatest ending to our family outing! He didn't seem to mind though. When we asked him where his clothes were, Eli chimed in with a combination of words including 'water, duts, oh no, wet and all gone.' He got the story right : )

(the funny thing is that ELI is the one in red pants... you'd think HE would be the one to fall in!)
Do you see the FEATHER on his shoe?!

I probably shouldn't encourage this behavior by taking pictures...

The story behind the picture...

I glanced out the kitchen window to see the boys sitting right next to year other on the stoop of the shed. Close as can be, just hanging out. After taking this picture (through the kitchen window as to not disturb them) we had to race outside to stop everything that was about to happen. Can you tell that Eli is so happy because he has two fistfuls of rocks he's about to throw... and that Owen is chewing on a mouthful of rocks? Those boys!

Owen is in time out... and refuses to look at you while he's being punished. I'll take this over the finger-drumming and eye rolling that I usually deal with as I'm putting him in time out. He is just shy of 2, not 12, right?!

August 8, 2010

Any guesses on what's going on here?

I'll give you a clue... they aren't playing in the sink, they aren't cleaning up from being outside, and it all started with a bit of a panicked cry from Eli...

Here's another clue...

That's right! Our masterminds were at it again! I'm not sure who comes up with these bright ideas, or how they are communicated (since there was silence the entire time they were stomping through the wet paint pan) but I'll tell you something, four feet make an awful lot of footprints in a very short amount of time!

If it wasn't for Eli whimpering as he stepped out onto the carpet and started sticking I'm not sure we would have even discovered the mess as quickly as we did. I was nursing Garrett, Charlie was cleaning up paint brushes and the bathroom door was closed. Since it is a tile floor, brushes didn't work (as Owen found out) and neither did rags, so Charlie spent about 45 minutes scraping the paint out of the tiny cracks with his fingernails. We left one perfect footprint on the floor (for now) and learned to tell each other to keep an eye on something dangerous/messy/sticky/dirty if we're walking away from it for even a minute.
Looks guilty, doesn't he?
