This was favorite Valentine's Day EVER!! I received these two cards - in the mail! - the day before, so I knew they had big things planned for the day. Owen and I went to Natchez Trace and ran a couple miles together, then he me to Braum's for ice cream, and he paid! We sat outside the restaurant and ate ice cream together and just talked about life : )

Then I had almost a full afternoon to myself while Charlie took Eli grocery shopping and they prepped dinner. He came up to my room in his dress clothes and invited me to the Eli Cafe, he escorted me down the stairs, read me the menu, brought a color page and colored pencils to keep me and his brothers busy while they plated the first course, and then he carried the courses in and out of the dining room, being the perfect gentleman the whole time. Caesar salad, spaghetti and meatballs, grilled bread, lots of Italian desserts, Italian symphony music and all my favorite boys. What a special night!!

January's Girls Night was a Beer and Girl Scout Cookie Pairing Night! Who would have thought it was such a tasty combination?! The Thin Mint was especially good dunked in the stout it was paired with ; )

We went to a burger joint after the cookie tasting - this one was a bust - thankfully the burger was awesome!

Finally made Simon the Centipede from the library's cookbook. They have been begging me to buy the ingredients for this for awhile now!

I'm all about a fun activity to wrap up a unit in school, and this one was a Mollusk Meal after we finished learning about mollusks in Science! We had clam chowder with oyster crackers and (homemade!) linguine with clam sauce that the boys inhaled! Winner winner yummy dinner!

Dylan's first food: PEARS! He really seemed to like them, despite having to put each bite back in his mouth 15 times. He got the hang of opening his mouth much sooner than he figured out how to keep the food in his mouth. Success!

"Well gosh, this is a mighty big bib. Should I be nervous about something?"
"What in the world is this thing in my mouth?"
"Do I lick it? Do I chew it? I'm so confused!"
 "Yum!"
"What, that's all?"

Aunt Jenny and Uncle Chris came for a quick visit this weekend and we packed in all sorts of fun! Jenny and I baked Apple Cider Caramel cookies with the boys and they loved them so much that they were fighting to get their head in the bowl to lick the batter off the sides! I love the picture of Eli holding the bowl still so Owen can lick it : )

I can't think of a better baking-helper task for three little boys than mashing up bananas. It doesn't matter how rough they get with their smashing, they can't mess it up! On a side note, I tried a new banana bread recipe and it was amazing. Click here for the recipe. You're welcome : )

We made it to Colorado! Our 10 year anniversary trip/baby moon is underway and not a moment too soon. We left Dallas the day after Owen came down with a nasty cold and by the time we came back all three of them had a full blown croup-coughs. Janet came to stay with the boys and didn't exactly get what she bargained for, but we are so thankful for the time away to spend together. The first night we cooked dinner in and made tilapia, scallops, baby asparagus and dipping oil for bread, apples and cheese. Delicious! We used the rest of the bread and asparagus to make a four-star breakfast too. This is the life!
