Our little co-sleepers.
Sure, they look innocent enough now...
Last night was the first night at home with the boys; the first night with sole custody and responsiblity for their care. It certainly was a different story than being in the NICU when I could feed them and we could go home, reassured that they were being taken care of by people who had most likely had enough sleep going into their shift. It was a bit deceiving being told that they are on an "every 4 hours" eating schedule, because they were up every 3 hours almost to the minute. They both woke up at 12am and 3:30am, then were back in bed by 4 and slept until about 8:30am. That doesn't sound too bad, except Owen decided to be awake most of the time between 4 and 6:30 too. The good news is that we're still on the schedule where they sleep, wake up, eat and go right back to bed, so it's not like we need to entertain them yet, but boy, I know I'M not getting 3 hours of sleep in between... especially when they both take 15-20 minutes to eat. They are grunty little men too - it'll take awhile to ignore that on the baby monitor and just listen for crying. One night down, a million to go... pray for us!
[By the way, we aren't bad parents... the pack n play did have a sheet on it, but Eli decided to "go the distance" during a diaper change and his arching fountain rendered the sheet temporarily useless!]
