Based on the recommendations of many who have visited New Orleans before us, we had beignets at Cafe du Monde and traditional New Orleans fare at Acme Oyster House (oyster po boys and a sampler of red beans and rice, jambalaya and seafood gumbo). We walked around the French Quarter and drove around to see some of the destruction leftover from hurricane Katrina too. It was a hit and run on the city, but still an enjoyable couple house. I'm sure that being there for the nightlife or during Mardi Gras would be a completely different experience, but with two toddlers, the late morning was the perfect time for us!
