Another milestone in the works! During our trip to Pittsburgh, Owen and Eli learned how to climb out of their cribs, so it was time to transform the cribs into toddler beds. We made the switch on Saturday and, so far, it's been a learning process for the boys and for us. For nap time, their first time in the beds, we made the mistake of not cleaning out their room. In a very short amount of time, every toy, book, diaper, wipe and kleenex was scattered around the room. They had licked up and down the walls, though I'm hoping all the wet marks on the paint were from wipes!, and they were both only wearing shirts and diapers. Freedom! Nap time was a bust, but at least it tired them out for bedtime.

We learned our lesson about the books and toys, which have all been removed from their rooms. They both started out extremely reluctant to get into their beds, but after praying and singing, they both relaxed and were soon fast asleep... until around 2am when Owen fell out of bed... and around 6am when I woke up to Eli staring me in the face.
Nap time on Sunday was just as bad, and the middle of the night was a little hairy too when Owen fell out of bed again. Around 2am we heard him making his way downstairs to play with toys too. We weren't sure what to do about locking them in vs. leaving the door open. We didn't want them falling down the stairs but didn't want them panicking when they couldn't get out either. The solution: putting the baby gate (a tall one!) up in their door frame. Last night they both slept all night and woke up after 7am. Yes!!

Hey, I wonder about getting bed rails that you position under the mattress. Then at least they wouldn't fall out...
