What an amazing day! We left Albuquerque long before the sun was even up and drove to White Sands National Monument for some sand dune sledding. The sand was so cold that it felt like snow and the disc sled made us go so fast down the dunes! The boys loved the thrill of it, and before long we had to hit the road for our second stop - Carlsbad Caverns National Park! We rode the elevator over 750 feet down into the cave and walked the 1.5 mile round trip to see all the amazing things that a cave contains. The boys thought it was incredible, but were very surprised that it was so big and didn't look like a bear cave. We saw it all and high-tailed to Guadalupe National Park in the hopes to get into three in one day, but it was closed by the time we got there. Charlie had hiked to the top in 2000 and wanted to relive it at least a little, but we had to settle for a picture taken by the amazing photographer Eli : )
