The 99th Annual Winter Carnival happened to be the same weekend we were in Steamboat. They haul in truckloads of snow to cover Main Street and have several events throughout the morning that the locals compete in. The event we watched was skiers holding a rope being pulled by horses as fast as they could run. Across the street you could see the ski jumps where they had jumping competitions and there were also events where people say on a shovel and tried to stay on as they were pulled down the street on horses. Random, but so fun!
